Carrots in a Cornish Pastie ?!

Question: Carrots in a Cornish Pastie !?
Answers:
!.!.!.apparently my mum said a real Cornish pastie should be beef, onions & potatoes and nothing else!Www@FoodAQ@Com

How odd that you should ask - I'm just waiting for Jeremy Kyle to finish and then I'm off to the kitchen to make a batch of Cornish Pasties - and they will contain minced beef, chopped onions, copped CARROTS, chopped parsnip and a bit of chopped turnip (the round purple one to avoid any confusion!) as well as sliced potatoes on the base of the pastry - and all topped off with dots of butter!.
If anyone's interested, once they're made - I usually do about 18 in one batch for the freezer - and I'm talking one person size, not tiddlers! - then brush them with egg-wash, pierce them, then bake for 10 mins at Mk7 then another 30 mins at Mk4!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Of course!. And cubed turnip!. Stuff it with the most you can-that is the reason for them!. My uncle makes them all the time and I freeze them in case I want a quick snack!.
There is a company in Northampton that still makes them savoury at one side and sweet at the other like the miners had when they were down the pits!. I'm not sure if they are the only company that still makes them, but it's the only one I know of!. They do posh ones as well as traditional ones!. The thing about pasties is that you can stick anything in them (unless you are Cornish-then it is a crime!) But I thought carrots in a pastie was the law!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

CORNISH PASTY MAY HAVE CARROTS BUT WILL HAVE SWEDE
OBVIOUSLY MEAT ONION ETC
THEY HAD THE MEAT ONE END AND MAYBE APPLE IN THE OTHER WITH A FLAP OF PASTRY TO KEEP THE TWO SEPARATE!.
THE PASTY WAS FLAT AND HALF ROUND WITH A THICK CRUST TO SEAL
PART OF THE CRUST WAS FOR FOOD FOR THE PIXIES IN THE MINES (FOR GOOD LUCK)
THE OTHER REAL REASON WAS THAT THEY WERE WORKING IN TIN MINES WHICH CONTAINED ARSENIC AND CONTAMINATED THERE HANDS
YOU ATE THE PASTY TO INSIDE OF CRUST THEN THREW THAT AWAY AS NOBODY HAD WATER TO WASH HANDS INWww@FoodAQ@Com

Yes I would as the traditional Cornish Pastie is probably the most disgusting food item ever invented so anything to improve the flavour would be a bonus!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No!.

I understand it should only be chuck steak,
potato, onion!. Maybe swede/turnip as well!.
