Best Burger Ever
STUFFED BACON-CHEDDAR BBQ BURGER
Allison Koplan, Tampa, Fla!. This is a good old-fashioned barbecue bacon burger, but the way the cheese and bacon taste at each bite, along with the soft, sweet barbecue onions makes my family go "WOW!"
Ingredients:
1 lb!. ground chuck
1 lb!. ground round
2 tsp!. black pepper, freshly ground
2 tsp!. garlic salt
8 oz!. block of sharp cheddar cheese, coarsely shredded
1 lb!. bacon, cooked and crumbled
2 medium Vidalia onions, sliced
1 tbsp!. butter
1 bottle of sweet barbecue sauce (of your choice)
Hamburger buns
Lettuce (optional)
Tomato (optional)
1/2 cup Onions
1/4 cup Barbecue sauce for basting
Directions:
Combine ground round, ground chuck, salt and pepper in a large bowl!. In another bowl, combine the coarsely shredded sharp cheddar and cooked bacon pieces!. Let bacon and cheese mixture sit at room temperature for about 20 minutes to get soft!. Then, shape mixture into balls (for however many burgers you would like to make)!.
Form 2 patties of meat and place one cheese/bacon ball in between them!. Pinch the sides together to seal in cheese ball!. Gently press formed patty, to spread out cheese ball!. Continue until all patties are formed!.
Cook burgers on grill over medium flame for about 7 minutes on each side!. While burgers are grilling, slice sweet Vidalia onions and saute them in a skillet with 1 tablespoon of butter!. Once onions become translucent (about 4 minutes), add some sweet barbecue sauce!.
Flip burgers, and baste the cooked side of the patties with the same sweet barbecue sauce used in the onions!. After about 7 minutes longer, the burger should be done (these are big thick burgers and may take longer to grill to your liking)!. Baste again with sweet barbecue sauce before removing from grill!. Butter hamburger buns and place on top rack of grill for several minutes, until toasted!.
To build burger, take toasted bun, add patty, and top with smothered barbecue onions!. You can add tomato or lettuce, if you'd like, but the flavors are great without them!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I've always been a burger purist!. I don't add chopped onions, peppers or anything of that sort to my raw mixture!. There are 4 ingredients: ground beef, salt, pepper, and egg yolk!.
Yes, egg yolk---one yolk per pound-and-a-half of meat!. Here's why: adding a yolk, and not the white, will produce a more succulent, juicy burger, even if you cook your burgers to "well-done"!. The inclusion of the egg white would have the opposite effect: egg whites are very good at trapping air (that's why they're whipped to make meringues and mousse)!. They produce a dry feel inside the mouth, and even a very juicy burger will seem dry if you include egg white!.
Anyway!.!.!.I'll season my burgers AFTER they're formed, and before I put them on the grill!. One of my favorite seasonings (aside from additional salt and pepper) is Cajun/blackened seasoning, which you can find already prepared at any grocery store!. It contains a bit of sugar, as well as spices and herbs!. It adds great flavor, and the sugar contributes to excellent grill marks on the burgers!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I made burgers last night for my hubby and he loved them!.
I just took the ground beef and added salt, pepper, garlic (probably 1 tablespoon of each) and Frank's red hot mixed with a few tablespoons of butter(probably a total volume of 1/4 cup)!. I also added extra hot sauce because he likes everything more spicy than the average person!. Our favorite is Insanity sauce but anything works!.
Then grill them over open flame is the best!. Serve on your choice of bun, I used the new multi grain English muffin made for grilling!. Top with ranch dressing and any veggies you like on your burger!.
He couldn't say enough about them so good luck and maybe you'll love them too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

My husband and I grind our own meat!. Although this isn't always practical, there is another way!. In the meat department of your favorite grocery store, pick out some boneless beef short ribs with about 1/8 to 1/4 inch of fat and ask your butcher to grind them!. Sometimes I will add sausage to my ground meat, (like Jimmy Dean!.) Take 2 parts ground beef and mix with 1 part ground sausage!. Guaranteed He'll love 'em!Www@FoodAQ@Com
