How much of a taste difference will it be if I substitute nonfat milk for whole when making ice cream?!

Question: How much of a taste difference will it be if I substitute nonfat milk for whole when making ice cream!?
I'm making homemade ice cream in an icecream maker and I have whipping cream but I only have nonfat milk!.

The recipe I'm using asks for 1 cup of whole milk as well as some whipping cream!. The book says I can substitute nonfat milk but how much of a taste difference does it make!? Is the texture different too!?

Thanks<3Www@FoodAQ@Com

It makes a big difference in the cream part of ice cream!. It won't be as creamy!. It might be referred to as Ice milkWww@FoodAQ@Com

well, whole milk has a sweeter, thicker taste to it!.
using nonfat instead of whole, may alter the texture and taste!. but because the recipe says you can subsititute it, it shouldnt be that big of a difference!. however, if you like sweet icecream, i would run to the grocery store and get a half gallon of whole milk!. =]Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm a BIG ice cream fan and I love making my own homemade ice cream!.

I have an ice cream maker that sounds similar to yours!. When I first got it - I used whole milk!.!.!.but I got tired of buying it just to make ice cream - so I tried nonfat milk!.!.!.that's all I use now!

I personally like the taste better - but I tend to go for more healthy tasting things anyway!. The extra fat in the whole milk is designed to make the ice cream softer - but I find nonfat milk works just fine!

Try it! I think you'll like it!

After using my ice cream maker - I found I liked making ice cream so much I decided to make an ice cream website!.

If you want some more ice cream recipes with nonfat milk you can check out

Just go to the Ice Cream at Home Tab!Www@FoodAQ@Com

not as rich of a taste !.!.!.!.!. You'd end up with a lower-fat ice cream (except for the whipping cream:) , but you WILL save SOME calories by using non-fat milkWww@FoodAQ@Com
