Philly-boy now living in the South needs Philadelphia Soft Pretzel Recipe. Help Plz?!
I miss the Philadelphia Soft Pretzel so much!. I haven't had one in 10 years!. Getting it in the paper bag coming over the bridge or on a corner - salt half melted - crunchy outside - distinct flavor of the soft inside!.!.!. I can almost taste it!.
Can anyone prove a recipe that comes even close!? I have looked at recipes online for these pretzels - and they are a joke!. I'm longing for a good pretzel!.!.!. please hook me up!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Try using frozen pizza dough from the supermarket!. It has been kneaded enough so you should get a nice chewy dough!. Let the dough come up to room temp!.
Cut the dough into 2 oz balls and start rolling them out into 16" long ropes!. Let them "rest" a few times and you will be able to get the length you want!.
Form the pretzels and put them into the freezer to stiffen up for an hour!.
Next get a deep baking pan with about 8 cups water and about 2 TBS baking soda in it and bring to a boil on the stove!.
Drop the pretzels into the water until they float!. put on a baking pan and put kosher salt on them!.
Bake at 400 until golden brown!.
I usually just cut the dough into little nuggets with scissors into the water!. I can skip the freezing part that way!. I made them for bar snacks!.
They also have pretzel franchises for sale!. Maybe you can get one going down there!. They do well here in Upstate NY!.
