Answers:
Let's look at the history of jerky or pemiccan!. This was meat smoked (pemiccan had added fruit) and salted to last for litterally, years!. This was a staple of explorers and trappers as well as native americans in the 1700's and 1800's!. Now, we add even more preservatives to the jerky in the form of sulfites at the factory!. This stuff will last and last if heated or cooled!. It is great too eat regardless of storage temperatures!. If it gets so hard you can't chew it, make pioneer stew out of it by boiling it in water with added vegetables!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's ok!.Heat will only dry it more!.
It's already dry cured and safe!. A hot car for 8 hours won't harm it!.
The only thing that happens with jerky is it will eventually get so hard it would be like biting into a rock( as it gets older or drier)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Why not, it's dried and shelf stable!.

People leave them in cabins and in places all the time!.

It's a dried food, so there is no chance of getting any salmonella or anything!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.I don't think!.

If you're in doubt!.!.!.!.throw it out!Www@FoodAQ@Com

short of dipping it in toxic waste I do not think there is anything you can do to it that makes it bad!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
