Are those pre-made frosting's ever enough for one cake?!
I don't know how one of those pre-made frosting's can be enough for a whole cake!. I use two 8" pans for my cakes, but need atleast 1 & 1/2 cans of that pre-made frosting to get full coverage!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I normally make my own frosting, but I agree with you!. A can is probably enough for a 13 x 9 pan, but certainly not enough for a double layer cake!. 1 can might even let you lightly frost 24 cupcakes!.
Maybe it's their way to try and get us to have fewer calories!. But if I'm going to have cake, I want a reasonable amount of frosting on it as well!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Here's your answer to that problem ladies!.
I'm a professional cook and normally make my own, but if I'm stuck for time and have to use a canned frosting (which is always yukky), simply add about half a cup of sour cream to it, beat it in really well, and it not only greatly improves the flavor, but it stretches the amount you need!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You sound just like me! I am never able to get the coverage I want on layer cakes, but usually it works out OK for 13"x9" pans!.
Funny how the commercials always show gorgeous cakes with really thick frosting and supposedly it's just one can!.
I always buy 2 cans, just 'cause I know I will need it!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm going to agree!. One can just doesn't cut it for a layer cake!. You have to spread the frosting too thin in the middle layer so you can have enough for the outside!.!.and I make cake for birthdays only!.!.so I want more frosting!Www@FoodAQ@Com
If you spread it really thin it will cover a two-layer cake, but if you want to decorate it or have a little thicker icing you need more than one can!. I use at least 2 on my cakes!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
When I use it, I buy two!. Usually I choose to make my own!. Frosting is one of those easy things to make, and it's so much better than the canned stuff!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Yep, you are so right!. It is enough for a 9x13 pan, but not enough for a layer cake!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
It has been enough for me, but how about buying two!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Not the way I frost a cake!. I would need at least two!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
No!.!.!. never!. I always buy 2 packs/tubs or have a tub of fresh whipping cream in my fridge!.!.!. just in case!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
spread it really thin or only have 1 layer!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
