Answers:
Your dad is being too paranoid!. All you have to do is rinse the lettuce before you eat it!. However, I have seen some chefs on the Food Network grill romaine lettuce by cutting it in half and brushing it with a little olive oil and a little salt and pepper!. Place cut half down in the grill just long enough to get some nice grill marks on it!. Here's a link to a recipe from Alton Brown!.

Wow!. Never heard of it cooked, maybe a stir fry!. Just make sure you're washing your veggies!.

You know the ecoli gets on veggies either from the farm hand, who picks it, have "dooty" on his hand from going #2 in the field, or the veggie being do-do on by someone working in the field using the field as his toilet or by getting pooed on by livestock!.

No offense, but your dad seems a bit paranoid!. I suppose you also have a fall out shelter well stocked!?!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

heat 1 tbsp vegetable oil!.

add:

1 clove garlic, minced
1 inch ginger, minced
1 tbsp chilli sauce!.

cook for 1 min!.

add clean lettuce, still wet from washing!.

stir & cook 3 min!.

add 1/4c oyster sauce (or hoisen)!.

cover & cook till doneWww@FoodAQ@Com

Grilled, maybe steamed or sauteed!. You may want to let your Dad know that preparing vegetables in ways such as boiling, will make them lose a lot of their natural vitamins!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

personally, I would not cook lettuce, but I have seen them sautee it in some olive oil and diced garlic on a cooking show once, seemed really odd to me though to be honest!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

cook it gentley in a wok add stir fry veggies and some croutons and cube up some tin spam add that to it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
