Well that is why I get all my recipes from foodnetwork!.com!. You can read the ratings of everyone who has tried the recipe before!. Sometimes they all agree it has too much lime or that it needs more flavor and what to add!. The reviewers tried the recipe and have suggestions to modify it so that you end up with a great product the first time you make it!. Try going to the website, you can just type in, like, "clam chowder," for example, and you can look through all the various recipes, read the reviews, and choose one that looks best for you!. I don't think a rating system would work!. Everyone's tastes are different!. What I find delicious, you may find disgusting - and visa verse!. I can usually (but not always) tell by the ingredients listed in a recipe whether or not I will like it!.

Edit--Age has nothing to do with it, I'm only a year older than you! I wasn't trying to be critical - I just know that everyone has different tastes (for example - I won't eat meat unless it is burned to a crisp - that would offend most meat eaters!)Www@FoodAQ@Com

I once used a whole bulb of garlic instead of a clove for a recipe for one person!. It ruined it :(

That was my stupidity though!. If it tastes that bad it's usually a silly mistake!.

LOL! Well, this is how all cooking got started! Trial and error!.!.!.look at it this way: it will motivate you to learn about how spices and other flavors merge together and what proportion of each you need to add (and when!) to get to the flavors you seek!. This is as unique and personal as your eyes!. Don't be discouraged!. Just keep trying, and when you have a beautifully serendipitous culinary moment, it will suddenly be worth all of the disasters it took to get you there!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, I'm afraid that all cooks have had their kitchen failures!. It's interesting to look at recipe reviews on line and while some cooks give a recipe 5 stars, others give 1 or 2!.

I have spent 40 years trying to duplicate my grandmother's pan fried chicken and roast beef-------------and her gravy for both meals, which was sublime!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

never use cookbook, use tv or something else, magazines have good recipies, cookbooks are just a bunch of recipies that are put togather within a few months no matter whos cookbook it isWww@FoodAQ@Com
