Sandwiches on whole wheat bread!. Turkey, chicken breast, lean ham, even low-fat salami or lean roast beef are ok!. Typical meat, maybe low-fat cheese, mustard, jardenaire to spice it up sometimes, a THIN layer of lowfat mayo, lettuce, tomato!. Super easy!. Then give him some fresh fruit and/or veggies, that is super healthy!.

Thanksgiving turkey sandwich-- turkey, whole-wheat bread, dijon mustard, slice of low-fat swiss, and a smear of cranberry sauce and lettuce!.

Monte Cristo- some lean ham, turkey, mustard, low-fat swiss and cranberry sauce

Zesty Italian sandwich-- any combination of low-fat salami and/or lean ham, one slice low-fat mozzerella or provolone cheese, and combination of the following for zest: yellow mustard, kalamata or other marinated Italian olives, olive tapenade, jardenaire, or pimentos!.

Lean ham sandwich with pimentos and yellow mustard-- or with sliced green olives with pimentos and spicy mustard

Lean roast beef with sauteed peppers and onions!. (just slice bell peppers and onions and saute in frying pan the day before-- store in fridge and use on beef sandwich

Chicken Salsa Wrap: chicken cubes with salsa, avocado cubes, and lettuce (some good fat is very good for you!) rolled up in a tortilla (I like the veggie flavored tortillas)

Low-fat crab salad(you can use lump or canned crab or chicken cubes-- and zest it up with fresh ingredients like bell peppers, red onions, mangos or citrus fruit like canned mandarin orange segments, lettuce, a moderate use of healthy oil and vinegar dressing,

I love to cut celery sticks to two inches, smear low-fat (I use vegan) cream cheese in the groove of one half of the celery (leaving room for handling) and wrap a piece of low-fat salomi around the cream cheese end of the celery!. This is tasty, low fat, high protein and low carbs!.

also, pasta salad made of raw cut veggies-- carrots, zucchini, bell peppers (any of red, yellow, orange, green), broccoli, cherry tomatoes, etc!., canned black olives, maybe lean ham slices/cubes, or chicken cubes!. Boil rotini pasta, add to veggies and toss with low-fat Italian dressing!. Add slices of hard-boiled eggs and low-fat cubes of cheese on top!. Put in plastic container and send it to work with him!.

All these ideas are healthy, but zesty, not dull and boring!.

on the whole having a large portion of fruit or veg would be best!. then having one small unhealthier snack would work so the lunch isnt too unappestising and there's something to look forward!. if your dad is making the food himself, make sure the food isnt too time consuming to prepare or it will put him off!. but having a salad/soup with a portion of fruit then a healthier version of crisps would work well! try and encorporate some of his favourite foods in a healthier way for example if his favourite food is fried chicken, perhaps use some cooked chicken in a salad or pasta salad!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yoghurt is great for lunches!. Wholemeal sandwiches are good too!. You can pretty much put anything in them (ie ham and salad)!. Pastas are great!.!.!. make them the night before for dinner and then use the leftovers for lunch!. Always yummy and pretty good for you (especially the tomato based ones - the cream ones are ok - but obviously not quite so light) Homemade pizzas go down well too - and are a heap better (health wise and taste wise) than the bought ones!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I like to take almonds and dried cranberries for a snack!. I also take cheese and crackers, yogurt or string cheese for protein!. I get tired of sandwiches pretty quickly!. Make sure to pack carrots or another easy to eat veggie and some type of fruit!. You can buy refrigerated fruit cups that have apples and oranges, grapefruit etc!. for something a little different!. I also love Stretch Island Fruit Company fruit leather!. It's the best!. I also like to snack on cereal like Crispix or corn chex!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Since I'm single and live alone I take a lot of leftovers in my lunches, but one of the things I love to make just for lunches is chicken or turkey salad!. It's pretty healthy (I use light miracle whip) and it's good for a lighter lunch!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
