Question: For those of you who are interested in a meal-building challenge!?
I have some beuatiful new potatoes that I plan to use with dinner tonight!. The problem is, I don't have and can't purchase any sort of meat product to act as a main dish to go with them!. I was wondering what I could create with what I have!?

Things in my kitchen: lettuce apples, penne and spaghetti (no sauce, though), peanut oil, margarine/butter, a few slices of deli turkey, hot dogs, mac and cheese, three flavors of ramen, canned chicken gravy, brown bread, half a loaf of Italian bread, a can of minestrone soup, cheddar cheese and 2% milk processed cheese slices, rice, eggs, milk, bisquik (not much, maybe 1-2 cups left), cherries, pretzels, wheat thins, animal crackers, herbs & spices, popcorn, a can of tuna (I think), and condiments including ketchup, mustard, dill relish, dressing, barbecue sauce, and mayonnaise!.

Just as an added issue, nobody in the house will eat potato salad!. Got any help for me!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Not as big a prob as you think! Take and slice the potatoes thinly and an onion if you have one (just as thin!), and then roll and finely slice (chiffonade) the deli turkey!. Mix the chicken gravy, with some milk to make a thick, but pourable sauce!. Pour a little sauce in the bottom of a baking dish, then layer with potato slices, onion (if using), some of the shredded turkey, and a slice or two of cheese!. Pour a little more sauce down and repeat layers, ending with cheese!. Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for about 40 minutes, uncovering about 5 minutes to the end, to toast the cheese!. Stick a fork in the potatoes to make sure they are done!.

You don't mention any veg, so you might be wanting there!.!.!.You could serve the cherries as is, or make some rice pudding out of the rice, milk, eggs and sugar!.!.!.!.

Good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would split the hotdogs down the middle, but not all the way and pour just a little bbq sauce on them and bake them in the oven!. Have the mac and cheese on the side!.

Kids love this and the combo of the bbq sauce, hotdogs, and mac and cheese is yummy!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

What about using the can of ministrone soup, add some cooked rice and cut up the new potatoes and add that as well, you could have a kind of stew!. Or instead of rice cook up some pasta and put that in!. Then maybe make some garlic bread with the Italian bread!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

send out for Chinese!?!?!?

seriously, cut the hot dogs into circles and and gently pan fry them until they start to colour!. Use the eggs and a bit of milk (any flour!?) to make a big omelette on top of the dog slices!. Toss in cubes or scraps of cheese (use both if they are different flavour) to melt just before it is finished, sprinkle with mixed herbs!. You'd need 2 eggs per adult or teenager ,1 per smaller child!. IF you have curry powder, fry a spoonful on that in the oil before adding the omelette, and omit the herbs!.
Lightly boil the potatoes (skins on, that is to my mind the best part of new potatoes) then "fry" them in a heavy pan, on the oil, until the skins start to go dark!. Quite high heat!. Add salt, pepper and more herbs (parsley, Italian herbs if you have them)!. Shake the pan, moving with a spoon will break them up!. They'll move when they are brown enough on the bottom!.
When done, break the top of each one by pressing down with a fork!. Then any (or all) the sauces and condiments can be put on them, though I'd stay with butter!. Mayo+dill relish would also be good, a twist on sour cream & chives!.

A different and odd thing: grate the potatoes and 2 apples (all with peels on) through the largest hole in the grater, mix them, leave sitting together on a flat plate!. Then shallowfry handfuls of the mixture into flat cakes, pressing down at first with the back of a wooden spoon or your fish slice/lifter, to make them stick together!. Serve salted with a choice of sauces, OR serve with sugar (sprinkled while still hot,so it melts) plus the cherries and some of their syrup!. This makes dessert on top of the first course, which is omelette with Italian bread and a plain lettuce salad!.
