Question: Can i use normal black pepper to substitute for szechuan peppercorn!?
Answers:
yep its fine szechuan is still a blck pepper just a tid bit more potent, use a bit more regular pepper, hopfully your using fresh cracked not ground!.!.!. if usingground toast in a hot dry saute pan to release the natural oils first!.!.!. cool for a sec before adding to recipe you will know when toasted by the smell, keep the pan moving over burner so you dont char the pepperWww@FoodAQ@Com

As I understand it, it will not taste the same, but if it's a dish that just calls for it as a seasoning and doesn't rely on it for the whole flavor of the dish, then I'd say go for it!

You can buy a small quantity from a bulk section in the local farmers' market or whole foods place!.!.!.not too expensive if you just get a little!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

it will not be quite as spicy I have found!. the flavor should be about the sameWww@FoodAQ@Com
