Deep frying french fries and chicken at same time?!
Bought this Presto deep fryer 2 weeks ago and have been frying french fries!. Can I deep fry french fries and chicken together or is that taboo!? Will it cause excess bacteria!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

No, it shouldn't cause any bacterial problems!.!.!. the oil is really hot and woudl kill any bacteria!. What I"m worried about is cooking times!. While they both take awhile, I'm worried frozen FF can lower the temp of the oil enough where the chicken doesn't cook right!. Or conversely, cold chicken may make the oil too cool for frying potatoes nicely!. Just do your chicken first, then finish w/ fries!. Keep chicken warm in a 200oF oven!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
My brother always cooks all kinds of things in his deep fryer!.!. including the combination of foods your concerned about and he has never gotten sick, or anything from it!. The oil does kill off any bacteria, I'm sure!. I wouldn't cook raw bloody chicken in there at the same time as other foods though since it does take longer to cook then french fries, but chicken nuggets, etc are fine!. I have noticed that the oil does end up needing to be changed more often when you cook certain foods in it though, but other then that it's fine to cook both at once!. My brother even cooks hotdogs, bacon, and sausages in it while he's cooking french fries ^_^!. It's much quicker I guess!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
There is no problem cooking chicken and fries in the same oil, just don't try to cook both at once, unless it is a twin basket fryer!.
The chicken and potatoes will cook at different rates and will need to be removed at different times!. Cooking both in the same fryer basket will create a real PIA when you start to remove the finished food!.

Umm, not a good idea!. Fries need super hot oil!. Chicken retains its flavours and juices when cooked at a lower temp!. Your fries will taste like chicken and the chicken will taste bland!. Make the fries first and then fry the seasoned (s&p, thyme, crushed onions, bread crumbs) chicken!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Bacteria can not survive the temperature, and have a hard time living in oil!. You can fry them together, but it will be a matter of room!. You want to fry in small batches when you fry, and make sure you maintain the oil temp!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Your F!.F!. will taste like chicken!. Or the chicken will taste like F!.F!. I have done something similar as this before and I was not happy with the taste at all!.
By the way, you need to change your oil often even though you put it into the fridge!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

When I worked in a restaurant we never cooked things together because everything tended to taste alike!. Cook the chicken first then the fries!. Fries don't take long, the chicken will still be hot!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
sure if the chicken is small and doesnt require more then 10 minutes to cook so everything finishes at the same time

First if you are using store bought fries, they will not take as long as the chicken!. Better to do them each by themselvesWww@FoodAQ@Com
It is not taboo but your french fries will have a strong chicken taste!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Nah, the oil gets soooo hot nothing can survive in there!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Chicken takes longer to cook than french fries!. I would not recommend it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
