Is it safe to freeze meat in foil? If so, for how long?!

Question: Is it safe to freeze meat in foil!? If so, for how long!?
Answers:
You need to wrap the meat so that is nearly air tight foil then a freezer bag!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I use freezer wrap!. It's white butcher paper and keeps the frost out!. It's cheap, comes by the huge roll and always does the job!.

I never had any luck against freezer burn with foil and the foil sticks to the frozen meat!. That isn't so bad unless you miss a piece and cook it and eat it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Meat frozen in foil is easily burnt by the freezer!. If you are going to use foil you should choose a heavy duty one and wrap in layers!. I would not keep more than one month in foil, not for spoilage but to preserve the appearance of the food!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Instead of being a cheap asx and freezing meat in foil, why not go out and buy a food saver and vacuum seal it!? Then it is good for a couple years in the freezer!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I usually wrap mine in foil then put it in ziplock freezer bag!. Six months at the most!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You will get freezer burn!. Just get the freezer ziploc bags!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

My father inlaw does all the time!.!. but it stinks pulling it off again because it sticks inside some folds!.

Proper packaging helps maintain quality and prevent "freezer burn!." It is safe to freeze meat or poultry directly in its supermarket wrapping, but this type of wrap is permeable to air!. Unless you will be using the food in a month or two, overwrap these packages as you would any food for long-term storage using airtight heavy-duty foil, plastic wrap or freezer paper, or place the package inside a plastic bag!. Use these materials or airtight freezer containers to repackage family packs into smaller amounts or freeze foods from opened packages!. It is not necessary to rinse meat and poultry before freezing!. Freeze unopened vacuum packages as is!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
