My friend has a food allergy to peanuts and can't have peanut butter!.!.!. is there any substitute I can use in my no-bake cookies that would act similar to it!? I don't really want to have to use a ton of flour just to be able to shape them!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
sunflower seed butter or soy butter (both could be found in a health food store)--but you would want to check beforehand to see if he/she is also allergic to soy
sunflower seeds are not nuts and therefore not prone to causing allergic reactions!.!.!.
You can also make sunflower butter yourself:
Sunflower seeds are an excellent snack by themselves or made into a butter!. They make the easiest and best peanut butter replacement!.
Sunflower Seed Butter:
1!. In a frying pan on low to medium heat, roast 1 cup of hulled sunflower seeds until golden brown!.
2!. In a food processor or blender, add sunflower seeds and 1 to 2 teaspoons of oil!. Blend until creamy paste is formed!. Salt and sweeten to taste!. (Personally I find that salt is not necessary when the seeds have been roasted, but do add two teaspoons of sugar or honey)
3!. Store in a mason jar in the refrigerator!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
