I'm making chocolate covered strawberries, and the chocolate is too thick. How do I thin it out?!
I microwaved some semi sweet chocolate chips, and they turned out really thick!. I added like 1-2 tablespoons!. Can I add oil to make it thinner, or milk!? ThanksWww@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
Use milk to thin it out!. also try sweetened condensed milk will make more milk chocolatey and creamy!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Coconut oil, cocoa butter and vegetable fats are the best choices!. Cocoa better is the traditional, coconut oil works really well too!. Vegetable fats are used but I would go with either of the others as my first choice!. Use a very small amount, both cool as a solid but when heated melt very nicely!.
DO NOT use milk, it does not cool into a solid and will ruin the chocolate!. You can add milk POWDER to make it more milky if desired!. Chill covered strawberries in the freezer to cool and harden the chocolate!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Melting chocolate in the microwave is one of the worst and sure fire ways to ruin the chocolate!. The best way to is to put a little water in a pot on the stove and heat it to simmer!. Place a glass bowl on top of the pot so its resting not touching the water!. Add 1 12oz bag semi-sweet chocolate chips and 3/4 cup either whole milk, half & half or heavy cream!. Obviously the half & half or heavy cream will be more decadent!. Stir slowly allowing the chocolate to melt and blend with the milk!. Add more milk if needed!. Allow to cool slightly before eating as it will burn your lips and mouth!. Enjoy!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Hello Megan,
I have worked with chocolate a lot and I would recommend using 1 tsp!. of vegetable oil at a time until it becomes the consistency that you like!. You could use a little parrafin, but sometimes it's not readily available!.

Chocolate will burn very easily!. After all, it does not take much heat to melt it!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.it will melt in your hand!. The chocolate is probably to hot!. I would let it sit a few minutes and see if it thins!. If not, use a few drops of vegetable/canola/etc!. oil and stir!. I am betting that it is to hot and needs to cool a little!. Good luck! I made some choc covered strawberries over the weekend and they were yummy!. Enjoy yours!Www@FoodAQ@Com
they're probably not melted enough, so nuke them some more!. don't add milk, it will make is get clumpy!. if you want to add oil, use coconut oil, try using the ratio of one part oil to five parts chocolate!. to make your strawberries dry faster, place them on wax paper in the freezerWww@FoodAQ@Com
Cream is what you add, but if you keep heating the chocolate is will taste bitter
To melt chocolate place over a pot of simmering water and when two thirds melted take off heat, let cool to room temperature and than add a little cream!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would think heavy cream is the best, but that's not going to be very helpful!. Chocolate chips are specially formulated not to melt like bar chocolate so they won't be messy when you eat them baked into cookies!. That's why they aren't melting properly!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
hello,DO NOT USE WATER or milk!.!.simple vegtable oil will do!.water makes what we call european icing, which is kinda cool if you know how to work it,it will turn really hard, really fast!.almost like rosebuds chocolate!.!.

unsaturated (liquid at room temp) fat like veggie or canola oil will work!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
milk or oil will make it too soft to set!.
I would add about a tablespoon of paraffin at a time til it is thin enough to dip your strawberries in!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
