best way:
grill it outdoors
2nd best, bake or broil!.!.!. whatever you do, don't fry on your stove top if you don't want the smell around!.
salmon is amazing with soy sauce and maple syrup, with a little garlic/ginger, and baked!.
most fish is done with it becomes flakyWww@FoodAQ@Com

I cook trout in the oven!. You place it in foil and a little salt and pepper and lemon inside the fish, wrap it up and place on a cookie sheet cook for 30 min!. at 350!. It will fall a part!
And as far as the smell, it doesn't smell as fishy as cooking it in a fry pan!.
Or you can use your grill outside then you have no smell at all!.
Just put the foil right on the grill!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Fish is generally best served just at the point of being done!.!.!. mind you salmon can be served completely raw (a la sushi) so you can serve it pretty rare!
If pan frying, about 3 minutes per side should be fine for most fish cuts!. The fish will lose its transparency and become whiter and firmer!. (or pinker in the case of salmon)
To keep the smell to a minimum make sure your fish is super fresh!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
