Frozen mashed potato ?!

Question: Frozen mashed potato !?
i am currently without a kitchen (renovations taking longer than expected!) and am getting fed up of take-aways and sandwiches for tea!.
i am planning on getting a pre cooked chicken and some frozen mash that can be cooked in a microwave just so we can have a hot meal!. i have never used frozen mash before and wondered if anyone can reccomend a particular brand !?

thanks in advanceWww@FoodAQ@Com

Aunt Bessie's isn't too bad, a little salty and will never replace the real thing, M&S fresh mashed is okay!. Another easy dish with the chicken is measure a mug of couscous into a big bowl and over with equal amount of hot water with a stock cube dissolved in it and if you like a handful of dried sultanas or rasinsWww@FoodAQ@Com

The only ones they sell here are the Ore-Ida frozen mashed potatoes!. I use them when I have to make a big meal, or for a mashed potato casserole, and they're quite good!. It sure is easier to use them than peeling and boiling potates, and they taste MUCH better than the instant dehydrated potato flakes!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I've tried Aunt Bessies and one from a frozen food store own brand!. Wasn't that impressed with either, although both were passable!. would rather use Smash or the like if I was pushed!. However, do you have a steamer!? If so, I would just do my spuds in that and mash after!. Plus it would cook the veg as well, fish can be steamed and in a push I have known steamers to successfully cook loads of things!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Fresh colcannon is nice and can be zapped and fresh mash you can get these in tesco sainsburys or marks much nicer than frozen!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Country crock has a really good pre-cooked mashed potato, its not frozen but chilled and they have alot of varieties, Look in the deli section where you get the precooked chicken!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I've not had frozen either but would look for the Idaho marking!. I do make instant mashed potatoes all the time in my microwave!.

Good luck, being without your kitchen is difficult!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

M&S does lovely microwave mash! I sometimes find it very hard to share it out equally!.!.!.!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I've had the supermarkets own make stuff before tesco or asda I think and it was pretty horrible very bland and tasteless even when salt was added its better than instant mash thoughWww@FoodAQ@Com

Aunt Bessies is good( as recommended by the wonderful Delia Smith !)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Don't you have a slow cooker!?!? I'd be using that daily under your circumstances along with a steamer and grill thing!Www@FoodAQ@Com
