How many pounds of cooked meat is in one chicken?!

Question: How many pounds of cooked meat is in one chicken!?
A recipe calls for the meat of one rotisserie chicken, and instead of doing that, I'm just going to cook chicken breasts I have already, and want to know how many I should use!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
I would think four breasts would be closer to a rotisserie chicken!. Most of the meat is in the two breasts of a rotisserie chicken!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

it really depends on the size of the bird!. the bones are hollow and very light, while meat is much denser!. there are also the organs inside the bird to account for!.
as for the rotisserie it depends on how many people your cooking for, because if your doing rotisserie, the recipe is most likely for the marinade!. just use your best judgement and, if you have extra, save it and use it later!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Bird bones are hollow!. I would guess 2/3 of a whole chicken is raw meat!. Cooking evaporates the natural liquids, and of course it would depend on the weight of the chicken to begin with!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

One pound of bone-in chicken produces approximately 1 cup of diced cooked chicken!.!. So, figure a 4 lb!. chicken would yeild about 4 cups of meat!. I'd say whole chicken breasts should do it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I always figure half of bird is bone, so half of weight on package is meat!.

I think about 6 breasts should do nicely!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
