Recipe question for cold pasta salad?!
I'm going to make a cold pasta salad this weekend and I'm trying to figure out what kind of pasta to use!. What is the best type of pasta to use for a cold pasta salad!? Here are the other ingredients I'm going to use in the pasta:
black olives
basil
Italian Salad Dressing
cucumbers
onion

I use the shorter pastas like bow ties, macaroni, shells, tri-color rotini/spiral - or penne, ziti!. The shells and macaroni are better at catching/absorbing the dressing in the nooks & crannies!. I also like tortellini or ravioli pasta salads!.
For the beans I like cannelinni/garbanzos - particularly with an Italian dressing or any Italian salad!. If you buy them canned, rinse & drain!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Fusilli pasta (which is the twisted or spiral one)!. Try the multicolored one for added color!. Tortellini (cheese) or shell style can also be tasty used in a pasta salad!. Kidney beans (you can get them canned), pepperoncini and Artichoke hearts are also a great addition!. A small teaspoon of Dijon mustard adds great flavor and some oregano!. Best made the night before so that the pasta absorbs all the flavors!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
My sister uses spag!. noodles in her pasta salad!. I personally don't like them!. I prefer any type that has ridges that help the dressing adhere!. As far as a bean goes, I think a black bean would work, just make sure you rinse them good first!. I also would add some bell pepper and/or radishes for added color!. Good Luck!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
drained kidney beans or chick peas are a good bean and then you could also cut some cherry tomatoes in half to put in and add some small chuncks of mozzarella or cheddar cheese to it then barilla gemelli, tri color rotini, tortellini, or also just in general small short pasta will be goodWww@FoodAQ@Com
I use either macaroni or rotini (spiral) pasta in my pasta salads, and I have also used penne with good results!. I would recommend garbanzo beans to complement your other ingredients!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
bow-tie and any type of "shell-shaped" pasta noodles work well for cold pasta salads!. Red beans would also work nicely in your recipe!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

elbow pasta or cork screw shape pasta holds the dressing very well and tri color pasta makes it look pretty

I like the colored spiral noodles for color!.I also use black beans(rinse well)!.They are tasty and give a great color to the salad!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
