Answers:
Forget the recipe!.

Cover it with water and simmer until it begins to open up!. Then cover and let it sit 10-20 minutes to finish!. It will be chewy and some will have a "soft" crunch to them!. If the water gets low just add alitle more to keep it covered!.

It will not absorb all the water like white rice!. It is not really a type of rice!.

White folks ship wild rice from Minnesota!.

The Indians sell it to retailers to resell!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

you cooked it wrong !. I never have had 'crunchy' rice , on purpose!. Wild rice come in many forms!. I buy some from native indians in Mn!. I have it mailed!. It looks totally different from "farmed" wild rice!. The farmed stuff is very black and shiny!. The Wild Rice is brown and not shiny and 'wonderful'!.The indian rice cooks easily but the black shiny kind takes longer!. try again, it's worth it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You didn't cook it long enough, and probably did not have enough water!. I always add an extra 1/2 cup of water to what is called for on the package, and cook it for at least a full hour!. When it is done the rice will have split its outer shell, and will be soft!.

It is definitely worth the wait!.!.!. I could eat this stuff at every meal!. My favorite meals with wild rice are: for breakfast with milk, butter and brown sugar (way better than oatmeal); for dinner I love wild rice with lentils!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think you did not let it absorb the water OR add the right amount
