How to make my choc chip muffins darker?!


Question: How to make my choc chip muffins darker!?
I've just done a trial run of chocolate chip muffins but they're light in colour!. I want them to look like the ones you get from the shops really dark sponge!. What makes them this colour!? The only dark ingredient in my recipe is cocoa powderWww@FoodAQ@Com

Bicarbonate of soda also makes the baked goods a bit darker!. Try to substitute some soda for some of the baking powder!. Baking with oil instead of butter or margarine will also make the muffins a tick darker!. The muffins will also turn darker when stored overnight!. he bakers put in other ingredients that give the goods a longer shelf life, that could also make them darker!. So console yourself that when your muffins are lighter, that they are freshly baked and without any additives!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Use some cocoa powder in the batter, using more clove, cinnamon, and other spices makes any batter darker colored and more flavorful!.

You can use molasses instead of any other sweetening in the batter, especially if it calls for Corn Syrup!

Put some Coffee in the Mix!. I once made a load of Muffins from a Recipe , I experimented with Banana, Raisins, Chocolate Chip, Plain , Coffee etc!. The Chocolate chip did not come out to well, but the Coffee ones were Gorgeous!. So Coffee or even Food Colouring that you get in the Little Bottles!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
