If the package of cream cheese?!

Question: If the package of cream cheese!?
I was planning on making a type of chip dip today which uses chili, cream cheese, and shredded cheddar cheese!. You put them all together in a pan and bake them!.

However, when I woke up, I discovered that the cream cheese had been left out on the counter (unopened) by somebody in my house who woke up earlier than me!.

I know cream cheese is supposed to be refrigerated, and it was close to room temperature by the time i found it!.

Since it's going to be in a dip that is cooked at 300 degrees anyway, is it still safe to use or no!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Yup, it's perfectly fine!. People, myself included, use cream cheese in cake frosting and leave that out at room temperature for many hours!. It'll be fine, especially since you're cooking it too!.

Just to be safe, give it a sniff and see if it smells like sour milk!. If it doesn't, all is well and the recipe will turn out great!.

Enjoy!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Do you have any idea how long it was left out!?
If it was over night I would say don't chance it!. If is was 2 hours or less OK, more than that you are taking a chance!.

It also depends on how cold your "room temperature" is!. If you don't have air conditioning and the temp is 78 degrees toss it, if you have air and you are like my work buddies the temp is around 58 degrees you have a little more time to work with!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Honestly, I would use it still!.
Food regulations definately wouldn't!. But if you are going to heat it to 300 degrees, that is 148!.8 degrees celsius which is more than high enough to kill any bacteria that may be there because bacteria is killed at 70 degrees celsius held for 2 minutes!.
also, many recipes call for room temperature cream cheese and a lot of people just put it on their counter the night before!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's cheese!. You could leave it out for 3 days and it would be fine---especially in unopened package!. You could safely eat it without baking it!.

Honestly, it's scary what people don't understand and assume they know about food--don't listen to anyone who thinks you should throw it away!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Probably depending on the temperature in your house!. You could look at it and smell it!. If you're going to be cooking it at 300 degrees just make sure you heat it long enough for the entire recipe to come to that temperature!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think if it hasn't spoiled, it should be fine!. Give it a sniff and see!. If it was close to room temp, it probably was out for about two hours or so, right!? Food service regulations let you leave food at room temp up to four hours!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Many recipes call for room temp cream cheese, so that part is okay!. Can you ask the other person how long before you got up they took it out!? If it was two hours or less it is safe!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's fine!. In fact, if you were baking a cake or something "room temp" is exactly what you'd want!. (It helps it to rise!.)

The point is: You're going to be cooking with it!. It's fine!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

if it still had a bit of a chill on it, yeah, you can use it!. otherwise, I think i'd pitch it, even baking it won't kill toxins made by bacteria!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

probably cause it melted anyways so if you use it to cook in its defanently fine! just try if you think that your guts tell you that it tastes or smells bad then try again with a new fresh pack! have a fun!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes it's fine!. I alwasy leave my cream cheese out over night when I am using it for dip, or cheesecake or frosting!. It's easier to combine!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

it's fine !.!.!.!.!.!.!. in fact, the recipe probably calls for softened cream cheese anywaysWww@FoodAQ@Com

It should be fine!. Unless it smells bad, then don't use itWww@FoodAQ@Com

more than 2 hours throw awayWww@FoodAQ@Com
