Fresh shiitake mushrooms in broth - steam or sautee first?!

Question: Fresh shiitake mushrooms in broth - steam or sautee first!?
I'm making some Vietnamese pho soup (vegie) and have some fresh shiitake mushrooms to add!. How should I cook them!? Should I a) steam them, b) boil them,or c) fry them a bit first!? I'm worried if I choose options a) or b) I won't get the full flavour!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
You should boil the shitake mushrooms because the some of its flavour will be absorbed by the soup so you will get a really delicious broth!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It will turn out well no matter which way you cook the mushrooms!. You are absolutely right about getting the full flavour though!.
I'd pan fry lightly with some oil and herbs first, that'll give you that extra flavour!.
If you are looking for a healthier alternative then steaming is best, boiling leaves all the nutrients in the water after it's cooked! You can even steam with some garlic to add flavour!.

Sounds yummy anyway, enjoy!Www@FoodAQ@Com
