I am a cookbook addict with over 150 books in my collection!. My husband and I both love to cook and rarely make the same thing twice which is sad, because we have made some really good dishes and we never make them again!. There are some old standby comfort dishes that we will always make like meatloaf, chili, spaghetti, stuffed peppers!. I will usually make these dishes when I haven't gone through my books for a new recipes and I'm short on time!. I never make a new recipe if we are having company, it could turn out horrible!. We have made some yucky dishes, but for the most part we have had good results!. How about getting a good cookbook and make one new recipe a week!? It can be fun!. You can't go wrong with any Betty Crocker cookbook!. The recipes always turn out and they generally are not difficult to make!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I've been trying alot of new recipes lately!. And one of the root vegetable that I've discovered I love is cassava!.
I like to use it in place of potato or even mixed with potato!.

I've learned to cook with pumpkin in soups and stews and it brings out a wonderful flavor, if you use to much though it will make the dish to sweet!.

I've also used a new fruit called Chinese squash in my stir Fry's!. I love them, but I do not see them to often ion the store!. Bu when I do I always buy a couple of them!. It is hard to describe them, but they are bit like an apple and a bit like celery, it looks more like a pear!. If you ever see them try one!.!. I've only used them in stir fry cooking, so I don't know what they would be like in other dishes!.( I think I'll ask and see)Www@FoodAQ@Com

I love to experiment!. It can lead to tasty discoveries and you sort of learn what goes with what, what techniques work and which you should avoid!. I do keep a "log" with recipes that turned out particularly well and resort to tried and true favorites often!. I can't say I have tried much with slaw, but I do like to add both red and green cabbage and finely chopped onions to the mix!. A dash of horseradish on the dressing works pretty well too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I will eat jicama if it is served to me in a salad or something, but it's not an ingredient I ever buy for use at home!.

But yes, in general, I always try new recipes!. Ones that are good get saved in my HD to share w/ others!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I LOVE trying out new recipes and make it a point to try at least one new dish every week!. I get them from cookbooks, TV shows, magazines, friends, or my own "concoctions"!. We'd get so bored eating the same things month after month!Www@FoodAQ@Com

jicama is great in a slaw!. add some slivered jicama and some chopped scallions to your standard recipe, you'll love it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
