How does a plate in a microwave work?!

Question: How does a plate in a microwave work!?
Recently i was heating up yesterdays lasange (yum) and my friend said to put a Bowl over the lasange whilst it was on a flat plate
so thats a wide flat plate with a bowl open side down with lasange in it kinda like a charlie chaplin hat shape!.!.!. so it would heat up evenly
how does that work

less important what's the basic way a microwave heats foodWww@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
A microwave heats food by making the molecules in the food move around faster, creating heat!.

Putting the bowl over the plate is like putting a lid on a frying pan, it keeps the heat in, instead of releasing it, so the temperature under the bowl increases, heating everything evenly!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
