Question: Can I use Thyme in my recipe if the Thyme has flowered !?
I bought some fresh thyme today for a recipe but it has little pink flowers on it's stems!?!?!?

I know you shouldn't use fresh mint when it's in flower, what should I do!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Thyme flowers are absolutely edible, they have the same flavor as the sprig but milder!. You can use the flowers as a garnish, which many restaurants do!.

Mint flowers are also edible, and are used in many middle eastern dishes!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It is, but remember flowered herbs are more mature so will have a stronger/more bitter taste to the leaves - which is useful in soups and stews but not so good in salads - so make sure you pick the younger leaves off the plant!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Use it, it makes no difference if its flowered or not the same applies to mint its just the leaves and stems you want from both so tear off the bud!. Completely harmless!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I don't really know much about this subject, but maybe this website on thyme recipes will help!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No, the petals are deadly!
STAY AWAY FROM THE PETALS!!!!!

My herbs are always flowering, since I can't use them up fast enough:) I just snip the flowers off!.!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
