Answers:
Broccoli and cheese is one of my all time fav dishes and I like to steam mine a little first! That way it won't be so tough and more enjoyable to eat!. I steam it and mix it with shredded cheese so that it would melt, then i butter a glass pan (instead of using cooking spray) and place the broccoli and cheese mix in there!. I then load the top of it with more shredded cheese!. Deeeelish!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, you can bake the broccoli in the oven, but need some moisture (unless your roasting it w evvo); or steam the broc & sprinkle w cheese & bake till the cheese is melted!. Instead of using a couple of pans, here's an easy method all in one!. Use the cheese of choice!.

Baked Broccoli
Serves 2-4 as a side dish

2 heads broccoli
1/4 cup chicken broth or water
2 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
2 tbsp olive oil
1/4 cup grated Parmigiano-Reggiano
salt and pepper

Preheat the oven to 350 F!. Cut the broccoli into florets and arrange, flowers up, in an 8"x8" baking pan or 9" pie tin!.

Pour the chicken broth or water and sprinkle the garlic slices over the broccoli!. Drizzle with the olive oil and season to taste with salt and pepper!. Cover with foil and bake 25 minutes!.

Turn the oven up to 425 F!. Remove the foil, sprinkle with the Parmigiano, and bake 5-10 minutes or until the broccoli is lightly browned!. Let the pan sit for five minutes before serving!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would not steam/cook it first because when put it in the oven, it will overcook!.
Following is a link to how I make it and the kids devour it! If you use the asiago cheese as it calls for in the recipe, it makes it a bit lower calorie and is delicious!.

It will sort of roast in the oven!. Should be all right!. You should make sure that there is some kind of liquid at the bottom of your pan, unless your cheese sauce is very thin, to semi-steam the broccoli and to prevent burning on the bottom!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'd steam it first to preserve colour!.
Or you could wash it & microwave!.
You can make a cheese sauce; use cheddar soup; or
sprinkle with grated cheese (parmesan or romano)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The broccoli needs to be lighty cooked first, either boiling ro steaming for a few minutes!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You can just bake it!. Steaming it and then baking it will over cook the broccoli!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
