Question: Zach's Stack Rendevous Griddlecakes Recipe- Question for Cooking experts!?
"Heart & Soul: Recipes Created and Designed to be Shared Among Friends" cookbook has this recipe called- Zach's Stack Rendevous Griddlecakes

While this seems a small production type of cookbook without a huge readership, I hope people more familiar with griddlecake proportions and recipes maybe able to answer this question!.

I will post the recipe and then my question!. The recipe tells you the ingredients as you use them so I will follow this method!.

1!. Mix:
1/2 cup oatmeal
1 1/2 cups yellow cornmeal
1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp!. baking soda
1 tsp!. salt
1 tsp!. sugar

Add 1 1/2 cup milk or buttermilk
2 tbsp!. oil
1 egg

Lightly oil griddle - and well regular pancake type directions

Anyway my question is do you think they mean oats or actual already prepared oatmeal or is there a dry oatmeal like a cornmeal!? If it is a dry oatmeal!.!.!. can I just grind oats!? I just found the ingredient vauge!. This recipe sounds like the kind I've been longing for sooo HELP!!!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Seriously!? Try Quaker Oats!.!.!.!. don't prepare them they're dry!.!.!.!. It'll say "rolled oats" usually in round tall canister find near "instant oatmeal!."Www@FoodAQ@Com

Use regular oats - rolled or quick!. I've never seen a recipe that would use prepared oatmeal!. Notice they have you mixing it with the other dry ingredients before adding the wet ingredients!. And you can leave them "full size" - no need to grind!. They'll add a little substance and wonderful flavor to the griddlecakes!. It sounds like a nice change from cornmeal mush!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
