How do you make breadcrumbs? I'm fully prepared for all the sarcasm but will someone please tell me!!!?!
Answers:
A very good question as many recipes, both sweet and savoury, call for fresh breadcrumbs!.
The best way to make fresh breadcrumbs is to use stale (but not dried out) bread and whiz it in a food processor until crumbly!. A rolling pin would mash the bread flat!. The crumbs should still be moist and light!.
On the other hand, dried breadcrumbs are made from bread that has been toasted or baked slowly to remove all moisture, then processed to make fine, sand-like crumbs!.
Different recipes call for fresh or dried, depending on the desired effect!. It may seem like a hassle at the time, but if you have some stale bread (recipes will usually mean white bread unless they specify brown or wholemeal) process all of it and store the crumbs in plastic sandwich bags in the freezer!. That way you always have a supply on hand!.
It’s easiest using a food processor but if you don’t have one you can also grate the bread on the coarse side of a cheese grater!. This takes more time and generally isn’t as effective but still works!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's cheaper to buy them unless you have some stale bread that would be tossed!.
Otherwise, cut bread into cubes and bake on a grease pan on low heat for about an hour!. Stir so the corners don't burn once in a while!. Then just buzz it in a blender a few handfuls at a time!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you don't have some stale bread;-{ dry some in the oven!.
If you only want a little, toast a few slices in the toaster!.
Break them up & run through the food processor!.
If you don't have a food processor, try a grater!.
It's much easier to buy a package!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Just grind bread up in the food processor or blender!. For "fresh" bread crumbs, use fresh bread; sometimes some or all of the crusts are removed!. For "dry" bread crumbs, use stale bread!. That's all there is to it!Www@FoodAQ@Com
try lightly baking your bread slices first, put them in a bag and roll a rolling pin over it, or after baking break the bread up and pop it in a blender until its fully crumbley!.
