If the ham says it's smoked, why does it have directions for handling raw foods on it?!

Answers:
it is fully cooked, but you should take precautions when unwrapping it and preparing it for serving, as you would with any food and the food-bourne illnesses going around!. Cooking it is just warming it up and can tend to overcook it not taking measures to cook it slowly!. You can slice off a piece and eat it as soon as you get it home!Www@FoodAQ@Com
It is probably cold smoked!.
This is where they create smoke in one container like a grill and there is a tube that the smoke travels through to another container where they place the ham!.
They do this method with smoked salmon so not to cook it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Because, smoked isn't cooked! For instance bacon is smoke, but you wouldn't eat it without cooking it, right!? Sausage is smoked, but we cook it before eating! Your ham has been smoked, but it's still raw, so handle it that way!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Because it is cold smoked and that means it is cured but not actually "Cooked"!.
It is also a liability issue!.!.!. If they don't put that on the package and some dumbass handles it improperly they can sue!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I know exactly what you are talking about!. It must not be cooked all the way through is all I can figure!. So, I follow the directions and you should too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
A ham should say "Fully Cooked ready to eat" or "Ready for cooking"!. If the lable doesn't say "Fully Cooked" be careful!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
It still has to be cooked!. Lot's of foods can be smoked, but not PRE-COOKED!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
just has smoke flavoring injected into itWww@FoodAQ@Com
