What does "latten" mean in recipes when it says "latten the dough"?!

I've never seen it in a recipe before but if it's in a recipe that uses dough, as you describe, I assume it means to roll the dough very thinly - as thin as a veneer!.

Could it be "lighten" the dough (such as with whipped egg whites)!?
or "lattice" the dough (strips on top of a pie!?)
