Best way to cook cheap steaks?!
When I buy cheaper cuts of beef, like bottom round, what is the best way to cook it!? I want to make it tender and taste good at the same time!. Marinating doesn't usually help, because the steaks always turn out dry and tough to chew!. Any advice!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

No question best way, and way i do all the time to cheep steaks:
marinade 8+ hrs, overnight if possible
consider tenderizing, or a marinade injector!.
My choice of Marinade:
1/3 cup oil (olive works great)
1/3 cup Soy Sauce
1/4 cup Lemon Juice
3+ cloves garlic (i usually go overboard)
1/4 cup minced onion
4 tablespoons parsley
pepper to taste
tenderize your steaks, using one of those needle/slicing tenderizers, link following
blend all the above in the blender, till it turns into a paste
put in a ziplock bag with the steaks, and squeeze out all the air possible!.
marinade in your fridge 8+ hrs (overnight is best)
scrap off the extra marinade from the steaks before cooking, and reserve!.
grill fast and hot, to rare to medium-rare (any more tends to be tough-dry)
this marinade is nice because it gives an amazing flavor along with more moisture!. Its so good we usually put the used marinade in the microwave and cook it to kill of anything from the steaks, and use it as a steak sauce!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Depends on whether you want to fry it or cook it!. I usually take steak and braise it!.
I fry onions, fry the steak in a pan until it's sealed, add salt and Worcestershire sauce, add water, and simmer!. Keep the water level with the meat until about 15 min before done!. Let the water reduce!. Cook for about and hour, maybe a bit longer!. You can taste it and decide whether you want it to simmer a bit longer!. It should be soft and tender then and a nice sauce should have formed!. I usually either serve it with rice or baked potatoes, sweet carrots and salad!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The best way to cook a cheap steak is to marinate, marinate, marinate!. Use mayonnaise, beer, jalapeno juice, seasoning salt, pepper, and garlic!. Let it stay in the fridge for a few hours!. Then cook the meat on a griddle or in the oven!. Your meat will be the most tender steak ever!. I do this all the time with carne asada and the meat always is flavorful and soft enough for my young ones to eat!. Let me know how it turns out!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I like to marinte mine in itallian dressing or other vinagarette's and do it AT LEAST overnight!. You can then cook how ever you want then slice them thin and serve with rice, potatoes etc!. That will help their chewiness!.
also a good way is to cut the steak into thin strips, then bread in a seasoned flour and deep fry until golden brown!. Or even use a beer batter for the breading before you fry!. Wala you have steak fries!. You could even marinate them before frying as well!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Couldn't you roast it!? Or don't cook it for as long, to make it not as tough!. If it's dry and tough it's probably overcooked!. Cut the meat up into chunks and put them in casserole (where there is lots of gravy and juices so as to make meat more softer and juicer)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
In a cheap frying pan!.
Bottom round is tough, no pun intended!. I usually hit it with one of those meat tenderizing hammers that you can buy in the kitchen section of most any store; WalMart, Target, etc!.
Then marinate it when its softened!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
