Instead of putting the chicken in the rice I would make it vegetarian!. Then with the chicken i would make a thai basil chicken stir fry and garnish it with a fried egg !.

Thai basil stiry fry:
chicken - diced
1 handful fresh thai basil
1/2 inch ginger, grated finely
1/2 green capsicum, diced
1/2 cup chicken stock or water
splash of chinese white wine - optional
1 onion, diced
3 cloves garlic, crushed
1 tbls fish sauce
1 tbls soy sauce
1 tbls oyster sauce
2 tsp of corn flour
white pepper
oil - either peanut/vegetable/olive

In a bowl marinate in the chicken with the soy sauce, fish sauce, corn flour and oyster sauce!. (add wine if using)

In a wok heat some oil and add garlic, ginger and onions!.
Stir fry for a minute and add capsicum!.
Add the marinated chicken and stir fry for about 5-10mins!. Add the water and cook for another 5mins!.
Toss in the fresh thai basil and sprinkle with a little white pepper!.

In a seperate pan, heat a little oil and fry an egg (if its for 6 people, cook 6 eggs)!.

Garnish the chicken with the fried eggs and serve with fried rice!. Enjoy!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well my family is part indonesian and we love nasi goreng! (fried rice) One really good tip (if you don't know already) is to SLOWLY fry the onion before you add anything else!. The flavour comes out beautifully then!.

As far as adding anything extra, here are some suggestions as to what we would add!.!.!.

To add into the dish itself!.!.!.
- Capsicum (add it half way through cooking the onion)

These are side dish things!.!.!.
- Sambal Olek (a chilli paste - if you like the hot foods!)
- Pickled Onion and/or Gherkins - the tartness of these goes really well with the rice
- Beetroot (just use a tin of them - the flavour is not as strong as the pickles but still compliments the rice beautifully)
- Fried Coconut (can't remember the name! It's just shredded or dessicated coconut that you brown in a pan - don't need much oil in this (can also bake in oven) and also good with toasted peanuts mixed in)
- Cucumber and Tomato Relish (this is my favourite - it's just diced tomatos and cucumbers in vinegar (or lemon juice) and a little sugar and salt!. yumm!)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Your making me hungry!. How about a nice home made stuffing!? Or a simple salad with a simple dressing!? I like to make my salad dressing with olive oil, lemon juice a bit of powdered chicken stock!. Use your imagination!. I would go with the salad, as it is a nice fresh counterpoint to the hot dinner!. Now I`m really hungry! Enjoy and godbye!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Since it's an Asian-themed supper, I would go with eggrolls or potstickers!. also, a cucumber salad with a light vinegar-based dressing would be perfect!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You already have 5 veggies and 2 proteins plus carbs so you don't need anything else but a big glass of water to wash it all down!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

How about a bowl of stir fried veg with a sauce such as sweet and sour!? Or spring rolls!? Or dumplings!? Grilled asparagus with a dipping sauce!? Miso soup!? Grated salad!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

In your fried rice you could add shrimps!. And I suppose smoothies could be a good desert; so you'll get your 4 food groups!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

potatoes in any way you want
mashed fried cooked barbecuedWww@FoodAQ@Com

While fried rice is good, its not really something you eat as a main dish!. To make it more complete, I would cook more broccoli and put it on the side- I kinda wish I was at your house for dinner!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Salad!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I wouldn't add anything else!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

a spinach salad with a light dressingWww@FoodAQ@Com

a egg rollWww@FoodAQ@Com

I don't think you need much else!.!.!.maybe a salad!.

Enjoy your dinner!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
