Dumb Q- does using marinade mean it takes longer for meat to cook?!

Question: Dumb Q- does using marinade mean it takes longer for meat to cook!?
ive tried grilling meat & roasting meat using marinade today & they both seem to take A LOT longer to cook than usual!.!. is it because the meat is "protected" from the heat by the marinade!.!. or is my oven giving up the ghost!? (the grill seemed to be as hot as usual & had just finished cooking another steak without marinade that cooked in less time, but the oven doesnt seem to be as hot as one would expect anyway!.!.!. well, not that i roast much stuff anyway, but i cant imagine the temp i feel is REALLY 200C!.!.!.

hmm!.!. any ideas guys!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Never thought about it but yes, maybe the marinade seals the meat so it doesn't absorbe heat as easily!?

I wouldn't have thought it would make a drastic difference to cooking times unless you're seriously coating the meat in thick honey type marinade!?!Www@FoodAQ@Com

depending on what the marinades are!. you should drain them and dry before cooking!. add oil if you are grilling !. or add oil into the marinade !. then drain and dry!.
flour will also help if you fry!.
for example!. dry chicken breasts!. coat in self-raising flour, then dip in egg, and then dip in fresh breadcrumbs(make them in the blender!. fry in hot olive oil yummy!. try it!.
i wouldnt cook steak in an oven!. just grill or fry or barbecue!.
ovens dry out steak!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well if you just took is out of the fridge and put it on the grill, it's going to take awhile!. I let the meat sit on the counter for an hour of longer before grilling!. Bring it up to room temp!. it will cook faster!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Usually, marinading meat makes it more tender and gives it some flavor!. It will, however, take longer to make it cooked as dry as some people cook their meat!. I'd check your oven!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No!. It does not take any longer to cook--not a dumb question-good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

i thought that shortened cooking time!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
