I had 4 friends over for lunch the other day and served chocolate creme brulee!. Everyone loved it! It is quite easy to make and you can make it in advance (apart from the caremelised sugar on top - but that only takes a few minutes with a 'blow-torch' or under the grill!.
Another party I had I made some yummy cakes that everyone again enjoyed!. Just buy a madeira cake and cut it into squares!. Drizzle over a good amount of syrup (made from sugar, water, orange rind and grand marnier) then cover in melted chocolate!. (If you can make chocolate boxes you can use that instead - but coating the cakes is much easier) Serve with cream!. Oh so simple and yummy!.
Another one that always works is queens pudding!. Everyone wants seconds of this - but it is better for a cool climate - so it depends when this party is!?!
All of these deserts are great because you can make them the day before and just need to worry about a couple of minutes before serving to put them on plates and make them look nice!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I like cheesecake because of its versatility!. If you start with a basic lemon cheesecake you can make different sauces to "paint" the dessert plates with basic or ornate patterns!. Try melting chocolate and creating an outline on your chilled plates!. After the chocolate hardens you can "color in" your pattern with a strawberry sauce!. The hardened chocolate will keep the strawberry sauce from running!. For an easy strawberry sauce just puree strawberries and add sugar to taste, then strain!.
Plate the cheesecake on your finished plates!. You can drizzle a bit more strawberry sauce on the cheesecake slice and finish with a sprig of mint!.
For fun you could even write the guest's name in chocolate on the rim of the plate!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Try my apple ftah:
8 tart apples, peeled cored and sliced in 8-10 wedges
3 lemons
2 cups sugar
2 cups water
2 tablespoons cinnamon
2-4 tablespoons orange blossom water
Begin by removing the yellow part of the lemon peel from the lemons and cutting it into small strips!.
Juice the lemons and reserve 1/2 cup for later use!.
Peel and core apples, cutting into 8 - 10 wedges depending on the size of your apples!.
Place sugar, water, and cinnamon in a large saucepan and bring to a low boil!.
Once the mixture boils, add the apples, lemon rind, lemon juice and orange blossom water to the pot!. (I find orange blossom water to be quite potent and would start with the lower amount and add more to suit personal taste!.)
Cook until the mixture is dry and the apples and lemon rind are tender!.
Remove from heat and allow the dessert to cool!.
Serve at room temperature!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It is difficult to believe that something so easy could taste so good!. It is almost dishonest to take the credit for it, but you will just have to!.
FIGS IN BRANDY
Serves 2
INGREDIENTS
4 ripe fresh figs
4 tablespoons of brandy
1 tablespoon of brown sugar
? of a teaspoon of freshly grated nutmeg*
150ml (1 small pot) of yoghurt
METHOD
Preheat the oven to 180°C, 350°F, gas mark 4!.
Wash the figs and cut a cross in the top!.
Put in an ovenproof dish!. Spoon the brandy over the figs!. Sprinkle the sugar over the figs!. Grate the nutmeg and sprinkle over the figs!.
Cover the dish with foil and cook in the oven for 25 minutes!.
Serve with the cooking juice spooned over the figs, and the yoghurt!.
ADDITIONS & ALTERNATIVES
Use Cointreau or port instead of the brandy!. Use crème fra?che or cream instead of the yoghurt!.
* You can get ready-ground nutmeg in jars, but it loses its flavour very quickly!. It is much better to invest in a whole nutmeg seed and a little nutmeg grater like this …
http://www!.decuisine!.co!.uk/cookshop/kitc!.!.!.
You can then grate it as and when you need it!. Nutmeg seeds will keep indefinitely in an airtight container!. Grated fresh nutmeg can also be used on lots of other things, for example frothy coffee, custard and rice pudding!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Something i love to make and its pretty quick to do is a berry triffle!. I get a pretty glass sundae dish or wine glass and layer cubes of pound cake, (store bought) and then spoon on warm jam to cover the cake!. I use it warm because it spreads easier!. Any flavor works but i prefer rasberry as i find its tangy enough to balance the other flavors!.Then you add a layer of Jello cheesecake instant pudding!. Then you add a layer of berries!. I use whatever is in season!. But my favorite is black berries, rasberries and strawberries!. Add some whip topping and a berry and mint sprig on top as garnish !. You can switch up the jam and fruit you put in it!. Last time i made a huge one and had berries and kiwi in it!. The colors looked really pretty and it looks as good as it tastes and its soooo easy!!. using plain strawberries would be probably the cheapest though but still really good!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you want something really easy, then try banana splits!. I've done that a couple of times, and it went over really well!.
Everyone just makes their own!.
You need bananas and ice cream of course!. Then you can have various toppings!.
My Granddaddy was an ice cream truck driver!. He always brought in the fixings for banana splits!. That's how I got the idea!. Great memories!. Guests have fun with it too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
