Why is my white rice slimy/sticky??!

Question: Why is my white rice slimy/sticky!?!?
Its always really sticky and slimy!. Am I under cooking it or over cooking it!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
you're undercooking it!.

What I always do is just put two cups of water for every 1 cup of rice!. Add about a teaspoon of salt and put it on the stovetop!. Cook it on High till it begins to boil, then take it down to the lowest setting!. From there just leave it till you can't see the water anymore!. Test a little bit; if it's still too sticky then leave it on for a while longer!.

I always cook it with the lid on, some people like to keep the lid off!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

rinsing it helps, but you may also be using too much water!. most recipes call for 1 part rice, 2 parts water!.!.!. If you are cooking it in the rice cooker, add your rice one cup at a time, and then fill to the water line that corresponds!.!.!. If you are cooking it on the stove top, add the rice and water into the pan, bring it to a boil and turn down to a low heat, cover the rice and steam it for about 15 minutes!. When it is done, take it from the heat, fluff it with a fork, replace the lid and let sit 5-10 minutes!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You are over cooking it!.

Rice Cooking:-Boiling!.
Thoroughly rinse rice under running water until the water runs clear!.
Add rice to a pot of boiling water, and return to the boil!.
Reduce heat to a simmer, so the rice is still moving around!.
Simmer for 15 minutes!.
Check tenderness and drain well!.
Return to the pot and fluff up with a fork!.
Turn off element and place pot back on element for a few minutes to dry out a little more!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

yup ur over cooking it and not draining it properly but then again u shouldnt realy have to drain the rice if your putting the right amount of water in it instead of waiting for the rice to fully cook before turning the element off turn it off when you've got about 10 minits left and leave a lid on it the rice will continue to cook in the heat and will evepourate the last of the water (which shouldnt be much)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Try running the rice under cold water to remove excess starch and cook as you always do!. I had that problem with my rice, especially when I was cooking it in a rice cooker!. This solved my problem, but in a mesh strainer run the water until clear!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

when you have finished cooking it you have to strain it!. all you have to do is put the rice in a strainer and run cold water through it!. then after you have finished try to get most of the water out before you serve it!.!.!. hope this answers your questionWww@FoodAQ@Com

some butter or cooking oil will help quite a bit with the stickiness!. if its slimy, its probably overcooked just a little bit!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

you cooked it too longWww@FoodAQ@Com
