Answers:
One quarter cup grits to 1 cup salted water is about right except every southerner knows there's no such thing as decent grits in 5-7 minutes!. When I cook them, I put the grits on-bring water to boil, add grits, stir cover and reduce heat to simmer!. Then I make the biscuits, cook the bacon put the biscuits in the oven and cook the eggs!. Take up the eggs and take the biscuits out of the oven and then the grits are done!. This all takes about 25 minutes!. Check the grits along and add more water if they are too thick!. If you cook them this way you will have creamy grits!. Cook and serve in 7 minutes and you will understand the meaning of "grits", cause that's what they are--gritty!. Serve with butter and a smile!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Milk or water!. Bring a 1 cup of liquid to a boil and stir in 1/2 cup of grits!. Simmer for 5 min!. should be thick like oatmeal!.

Add salt, pepper and butter to taste!.

Edit: Milk works just fine!. It makes for richer tasting grits!. You can use whatever liquid you like!. Chicken stock would be good, too!. Add a handful of shredded cheddar!. Cooking is all about creativity, there are no black and white rules that are set in stone for cooking!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's water not milk!. And it's 1/4 cup grits for every cup of water!. Boil water, stir in grits, reduce heat to low and stir occasionally for about 5-7 minutes!. Salt and pepper to taste!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
