Answers:
you can try to turn it upside down and pound it on the counter (not so hard it will break) you can try and take a butter knife and vent the top open so the vacuum seal breaks and this helps loosen the top!.

A couple of things to try!.
Take a spoon and tap around the side of the top of the jar!.
if that doesnt work, anything you have with rubber !? Some of those rubberized-ish shelf liners !?
This may even sound a bit crazy, but even a bath mat - the bottom are usually have that no slip material - see if you can use that to open the jar - just cover the jar and see if you can twist open- it will give you tractionWww@FoodAQ@Com

One trick I've used occasionally is to poke a hole in the lid, like with one of those old-fashioned can openers or something!. Sometimes it's the vacuum inside the jar that sticks the lid in place, and if you let air in it's a lot easier to get the thing off!. It works with jars of spaghetti sauce, anyway!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
this won't help at the moment, but next time your in walmart, in the utlensil section they have a lid popper for these such cases!. They look like a bottle opener but are not!. The have a wider circle with a lip to catch under the lid of the jar!. You just put it to the lid and pull up and it breaks the seal on any jar!. It's so nice having one!. My mom gave me one yrs ago and I use it all the time!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Sometimes a dry rag can get the best of those pesky lids! Or, assuming you don't have one, you can buy little multitasking rubber mats, such as the ones that you can use to remove the skin of garlic with!. They can help to get a nice grip if you buy the right kind!. The more bumps and grippies the better!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
1!. Take a knife and hit the sides of the lid of the jar repeatedly
2!. Run warm/hot water over the lid
3!. Get a lid opener, like the ones on tv
make sure to get a good grip on the lid!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Put it in hot tap water and let sit for a couple of minutes!. Take 2 heat proof gloves and turn!. This only works if the jar is glass and the lid is metal!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
take a wide rubber band and place it around the lid!. It will give you a good grip and you should be able to get the lid off!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
take a spoon or table knife and just under the metal lid twist to expand the crimp " 3 twists should do it " HP azacabanWww@FoodAQ@Com
Guess you got it open by now, - but try using a towel to grip the lid next time =)Www@FoodAQ@Com
I take a butter knife and thump the heavier handle end around the lid a few times!. It works every time!!Www@FoodAQ@Com
