Saving spices?!
i dumped like half a bottle of seasoning on raw hamburger (it all fell out of the bottle at once!.!. my sprinkling technique lacks i guess!.!.!. lol) anyway, is there any way i can save half a bottle of spices that fell onto raw hamburger (i mean like 60g of the stuff) it came out in clumps but im afraid of scraping it off with spoon & putting it back in container as at least part of it was in contact with raw hamburger!.!. and dont want to mix it up trying to scrape it off,!.!.!. can i save this spice somehow or do i throw it away and cut my losses!? thanksWww@FoodAQ@Com

Well, I will probably get shot for saying this, but I do not see why you could not just gently tip off the seasoning!.!.!. You do not actually say what "seasoning" you are talking about, but if it is a spice like pepper, you can dry roast it in a non-stick frying pan, let it cool and then put it into a clean container (NOT back with what did not fall out of the bottle)!. Use it up as quickly as possible!.
The amount of "possible cross- contamination" will be a moot point IMNSHO!. Until the burger is swimming in other stuff like juices, blood, bread, egg (if you are making your own burger!?) As long as it is "dry" and you really do not put meat or any liquid in with your saved spice, I do not see a problem!. Keep it in the fridge and use it up as soon as you can though!.
Or you could cook it all with the hamburger and then divide hamburger and spice/seasoning up!.!.!. put/press it into an ice cube tray and freeze!. That way you have seasoning to add to mince dishes!.!.!. Just take a cube at a time!. It means you might not have hamburger for lunch though! LOL!Www@FoodAQ@Com

The best way to salvage your seasonings is to: 1!.brush them unto the floor,2!.put your hamburger on top the seasonings, 3!.jump up and down on the hamburger to flatten it into the seasonings, 4: turn hamburger over and repeat no!. 3 above, 5!.cook hamburger until dry and flaky,6!. crumble half the dried hamburger and return it to the original bottle,6!.save for guests---do not use yourself!Www@FoodAQ@Com
if it is a spice that will only be used with raw meat and cooked when it is used again, I do not see why you could not put in another container and FREEZE IT!. As long as it is used with meat and cooked later, I see no problem!. I liked the idea of cooking all the meat and then using a small portion and freezing the rest also!. Hope this helpsWww@FoodAQ@Com
I don't know why what country you DON'T live in makes any difference in whether or not the spices would be safe to eat, but it sounds like you've made up your mind!.!.!.based on preconceived notion of what we folks in the US are like!?
By coming in contact with raw meat, the spices are contaminated and you know it!.
If you want to risk your health to save little money, it's up to you!. But why come here and ask us for our opinions if you already decided to try to save the spices, and then tell us we don't care if you get sick!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

You might be able to save the top portion, anything that didn't touch to raw meat!. Pinch off what you can, if you feel safe doing so!. Been there done that, and yes I removed what I thought was safe!. Uncertain, throw it away!. I hate it when that happens:-)Www@FoodAQ@Com
To be honest, it would just make me paranoid, so I'd be more likely to throw it for peace of mind!.
Unless it was really rare/premium quality stuff but if it's just mixed herbs or curry powder, I'd chuck it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Toss it!. The x dollars of spices you might save is not worth the hundreds and thousands of dollars of risk you're taking on by having it contact raw meat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
NO! its not worth the risk of cross contamination!.!.!.!.discard as much as you need to off the raw hamburger but by no means risk saving it!.!.!.!.cut your losses!.!.!.!.!.lol, at least next time your sprinkling skills will be sharper trust me!.!.!.lolWww@FoodAQ@Com
Throw it away!.!.!.do not try to scrap it off and save it !.!.!.you never know what minut part of it touched raw meat!.!.!. I've done that before too,,,had the large side lid open instead of the shaker part!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Hope you learned one lesson in cooking!.!.!.check your seasoning lids before shaking, Cut your losses throw it away!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
