Serving Size: 4
3 large Spanish onions
vegetable oil
1/2 cup milk
1 egg
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
Peel onions under running cold water!. Cut into 1/4 inch slices and separate into rings!. Heat oil (1 inch) in 3-quart saucepan to 375 F!.
Beat remaining ingredients with hand beater until smooth!. Dip each ring into batter, letting excess drip into bowl!.
Fry a few onion rings at a time in hot oil, turning once, until golden brown, about 2 minutes; drain!.

2 Vidalia or Texas 1015 onions, sliced 1/2-inch thick
2 cups flour
2 cups fine cracker crumbs
2 cups white cornmeal
2 cups buttermilk
1 cup Water
4 cups Crisco oil
Save the very small onion rings for another use!.
Add buttermilk and water to a large bowl!.
Mix together flour and fine cracker crumbs in another bowl!. Coat one ring at a time with flour mixture, then with buttermilk mixture, and then coat with cornmeal!. Drop into hot oil and fry until golden!. Drain on white paper towels!.

First you need to slice the onions whole so they make good rings!. I like to cut mine about 1/2 inch thick (I like em big)!.
Next you need to make a batter using flour (or you can get special batter mix for onion rings at the local grocery store)
Mix and dip then deep fry!. I suggest a deep fryer or deep enough cooking pan because you will need enough oil to cover them!. cook loosely so they don't stick together!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

coat onion rings in flour before dipping them in egg white & roll them in bread crumbs, then fry them in a medium heat oil till they just begin to brown!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
