What Should I Use to Make Strawberry Shortcake?!
Should I use angel food cake, biscuits, or spongecake!? I've grown up using a spongecake but I would like your opinions! Recipes are welcome!Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
I use sweet drop biscuits!. There is a recipe on the Bisquick box!. It's basically bisquick with extra sugar!. I like it because it soaks up the juice!. I just clean the berries and sprinkle sugar on them and let them sit for a couple of hours in the fridge!. Meanwhile I make the biscuits; I use the toaster oven because it's so hot out!. Put down the biscuit, put on berries and juice, add some 1/2&1/2, and top with whipped cream!. That's the way my mom showed me and I've always done it like that!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I don't like it with biscuits!. They seem to get so wet!. I have always used sponge cake and my family laughs and calls it strawberry tall cake because it is three layers!. My recipe is as simple as pie!.
4 eggs
1 cup sugar
1 cup self rising flour
Beat eggs until light and add the dry ingredients!. Divide between 3 prepared pans and cook at 350 until done!.
I then beat 1 pint whipping cream with one half cup sugar and layer the cake with strawberries and whipped cream!. This is a great cake and so simple!. When I first heard the recipe I thought something was missing, but not!. I do add a bit of vanilla to the cake batter but it is great without it!. I never, ever use Cool Whip or any other whipped topping!. When strawberries are fresh out of the field they deserve the real thing!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
