Goulash Question--?!

Question: Goulash Question--!?
Hey my cousin used to make this stuff she called "Goulash" which contained-

hamburger
elbow macaroni
pasta sauce
corn and green beans; drained

Is this just a poor mans recipe for "Goulash" !? LOL

Or what is a REAL Goulash recipe!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Poor Mans Goulash!.

Okay, this is easy!. Boil some macaroni noodles (I prefer Barilla's as they have little squiggly lines in them that hold the sauce in best) and brown some Hamburger meat with onion, garlic, and any other spices/herbs you like in your spaghetti type dishes!. Now, once those are both done, mix them together (After draining, of course) with spaghetti sauce and mushrooms, if you like!. Get out a big baking pan (I usually use a 9 x 11 cake pan) and lay a layer of goulash down!. On top of it, spread shredded or grated mozzarella cheese!. Now another layer of goulash, another layer of cheese, and so on and so on until your pan is full and the last layer of cheese is on top!. If you used mushrooms and you like mushrooms, of course, you can lay sliced mushrooms on top of that layer of cheese, and make it look pretty!. Now cover it up well in Aluminum Foil and place in a 350 degree oven!. Let it bake for about 30 minutes!. About five minutes before you're done, if you like, you can take off the foil and let it bake a nice golden brown on top!. Let it stand for 5 minutes after baking away from heat to let it settle!. Enjoy!

Hope This Helps!? =)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Place a lid on the pot and allow this to cook for 20 to 25 minutes!.

Add the elbow macaroni, stir well, return the lid to the pot, and simmer for about 20 minutes!. Turn off the heat, remove the bay leaves and allow the mixture to sit about 30 minutes more before serving!.

This is the most authentic recipe I know (friend's grandmothers recipe) I grew up in San Antonio TX and was around many authentic dishes from mexico, japan, and french, but when I met my friend his grandma made this and I fell in love with hungarian food!. I try to make this and I am decent at it but it will never compare to her's!. ( I don't know if she spits in it or what!? lol)

2 lb!. beef chuck
1 tsp!. salt
2 onions, white or yellow
2 Tbsp!. lard or shortening
2 Tbsp!. imported sweet paprika (most important to use real hungarian paprika for ultimate flavor)
2 bay leaves
1 Qt!. water
4 peeled and diced potatoes
1/4 tsp!. black pepper

Cut beef into 1 inch squares, add 1/2 tsp!. salt!. Chop onions and brown in shortening, add beef and paprika!. Let beef simmer in its own juice along with salt and paprika for 1 hr!. on low heat!. Add water, diced potatoes and remaining salt!. Cover and simmer until potatoes are done and meat is tender!. Prepare egg dumpling batter:

1 egg
6 Tbsp!. flour
1/8 tsp!. salt

Add flour to unbeaten egg and salt!. Mix well!. Let stand for 1/2 hour for flour to mellow!. Drop by teaspoonful into Goulash!. Cover and simmer 5 minutes after dumplings rise to surface!.

Add water, diced potatoes and remaining salt!. Cover and simmer until potatoes are done and meat is tender!. Prepare egg dumpling batter:

1 egg

The only difference between your recipe and a "real" recipe is that yours probably calls for a jar of pasta sauce and the "real" recipe probably has it's own sauce recipe!. I make mine with stewed tomatoes, tomato sauce, and seasoning!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
