Icing for cookies!?!
i want to make cookies tonight with icing, but every recipe for icing needs POWDERED sugar!. i don't have any on hand right now, just regular grainy sugar!. i always can wait until tomorrow but is there any way to ground regular sugar into powdered!? or is there any recipes you know of that will make decent icing for sugar cookies without using powdered sugar!?

I have been told that you can put granulated sugar in a blender or food processor and grind it into powdered sugar!. It's not exactly the same, but will probably work for your purposes in a pinch!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hi,
well, you could dissolve the sugar in a bit of warm water - stirring about, then whip well with butter - if you have a machine that would be easier, add 1 teaspoon or so of vanilla, whip, and see what you get!.
could try a dash of cream or milk if it seems like it would help!.
it probably won't look pretty and be gray/brownish, but it would probably taste ok!.
hope you get a better answer or recipe!Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you want the icing to come out more like buttercream icing, then you can use Crisco or shortening!.
Or if you have something like Splenda, that would work since the sweetner isn't too grainy!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
