Cornstarch substitute?!

Question: Cornstarch substitute!?
I have a recipe that calls for 1 tsp cornstarch!. It's such a small amount I'm wondering if it will really mess up the recipe, are there any alternatives since I don't have cornstarch!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
It depends on what the recipe is and in what context the cornstarch is used!. If it is used to thicken something, then flour can be substituted, but be aware that you must cook it a little longer to cook out the taste, and the finish won't be as clear!.

However, in some recipes, cornstarch is used to lighten up a heavier dry component, such as flour, so that the feel is lighter!. In this case, I don't know if you actually have an option!.

I hope this has helped!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Arrowroot but because you only require 1tsp, then a tsp of plain/all purpose flour should do the trick!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
