What is a proper food quantity for a 4 year old?!

Question: What is a proper food quantity for a 4 year old!?
Answers:
Some 4 year old eat more than others!. But, my experience has been that many parents make the portions too large!.

I used to tell parents that practically speaking a portion is the amount of food that will end up inside the child rather than the dog dish!.

Here are some practical guidelines for the AVERAGE 4 year old:

1/2 sandwich
1/2 cup cereal such as cheerios or raisin bran
1/2 cup juice
1 cup milk
1/2 oz cheese
1 small apple or 1/2 medium apple
1 small banana, 1/2 large banana
1/4 cup peas, corn, beans, applesauce
1 cup pasta, rice
1 chicken leg, 1 small pork chop, 1" X 2" slice of roast beef or ham!.

Here's a couple things I've noticed about feeding kids!. If there are no chips, cookies or candy sitting around, they will snack on fresh fruit and vegetables!.

If you have a "slender" big eater, you are probably doing it right!. If you have a "chunky" big eater, you may have allowed some bad eating habits to creep in!. Don't offer children food to make them feel better, offer food when they are hungry!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

all children eat differing amounts of food as long as the child is healthy and running around I would not worry to much, or talk to your pediatrician or health visitor if you think there is a problem with the amount of food your child is eating!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Quantity of what!? Height and pounds of child!? Minimum Meal Requirements are avilable on child care sites- like this one>
