I know this may come too late but it might help for next time!. London Broil is actually a cut of beef but many grocers sell it as a london broil!. The longer you marinade it in the refrigerator, the quicker it cooks!. Use seasoning salt, onion, and lemon juice!. Refrigerate for a minimum of 4 hours!. Preheat oven and then broil for about 30 minutes!. Turn meat over at half-time!. I cover mine so that the juices will stay and not dry out the meat!. Good luck next time!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
No one is answering because we need to know how thick it is to give you good info!. on this!. Do you have a meat thermometer!?
In all honesty, if you haven't marinated it in anything and you're going to cook it to well done, then it's going to be like eating leather!.
What you actually purchased is most likely Top Round Steak!.!.!. a very tough cut of meat!. London Broil is a method of cooking, not a cut of beef!. http://www!.askthemeatman!.com/london_broi!.!.!.
Anyway, Top Round is only tender to about medium rare and even then most people will marinate it for at least for 4 hours if not more (I usually do mine overnight in a mixture of soy, catsup, garlic, balsamic vinegar, brown sugar, olive oil and oregano!.)
This is probably why people are not jumping to answer this one!. If you are going to cook it to well done maybe you shouldn't broil it at all!. You might get more flavor from flouring it and browning it on the stove and finishing it in the oven at 375 degrees until the meat thermometer indicates well done!. Or, you could cut it in chunks and pressure cook it in some beefy/soy broth or something, then you'd have a shot at some kind of tenderness and it would be fast!.
I'm sorry I can't be more helpful, but!.!.!. with the information you've provided it's really the best I can do!.
Good Luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com
