Choose your bread wisely - challah or any eggy or sweet bread would be equally good!. I like to slice my French toast thick - it tends to collapse down a lot as it gets dunked and cooked!. It will serve 2-4 depending on how hungry people are!. I recommend a double batch!.

1 egg
1 cup undiluted evaporated milk
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
6 slices bread

Beat egg; add milk, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt!. Mix thoroughly!. Cut bread into triangle, dip into egg and milk mixture!. Brown on both sides on a well-greased griddle or frying pan!. Serve with soft butter and maple syrup!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I make very good French Toast but there are a few very simple requirements!.

1) It's all in the bread!. I like a day old baguette as best!. If you have a bakery with Brioche or Challah bread, that is fantastic too!. Don't use packaged white or wheat bread!. The slices are too thin and absorbent!. You will get mushy bread with scrambled eggs mixed in!.

2) The mix is simple!. Mix 3 eggs, 3/4 cup of milk (or cream if you really want a rich dish)!. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and a pinch of salt!.

3) Preheat griddle!. Cut Bread into 3/4 - 1 inch slices!. Dip in egg mix and put on a lightly oiled griddle (I use oil instead of butter because the griddle gets too hot for butter)

4) The toppings are an argument all in their own!. Personally, I like mine with butter and maple syrup!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

the way my mom used to make it is the best and the easiest way--mix eggs and milk in a bowl!. take some butter and melt in the bottom of a skillet!. dip the bread in the egg mixture and put in the pan!. cook till golden brown and then flip and do other side!. take out of the pan and smother in butter and syrup!.!.!.Delicious!!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

two eggs, 1/3 cup sugar, 1 Tbsp vanilla ext!. 1/4 tsp cinnamon, 1/8 tsp nutmeg!. 1 cup milk (or 1 cup cream if you want to go all out)!. Whisk batter till blended!.
Pre-heat a griddle or non stick pan to about 350, lightly oil!. Dip thick sliced bread in the batter, let it soak for a bit then transfer to the griddle!. Grill till nice and brown on both sides!. It's important not to move the bread around too much while it's cooking!.
Try this recipe with warm Bananas Foster on top!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
