Can I save my chili..?!
So I was making a batch of chili and the recipe called for 8 large cloves of garlic!. Having never used garlic before, I added 8 BULBS of garlic to my batch!.
It's been simmering for nearly an hour now, but is there anything I can do to salvage this batch, or will I just have to deal with an over-abundance of garlic!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hi! I did the exact same thing when I attempted to make my first ever spaghetti sauce to can!. I added many entire bulbs!
LOL! A darn good thing I like garlic!
How does it taste!? If the garlic is just too strong for your tastes, consider breaking it down into smaller batches!.
Like say you made a gallon of chili, which would be a really big batch!. Break it down into quarts!.
Possibly freezing 3 of them, as the first poster suggested!.
Then take your remaining quart and add additional ingredients (from your recipe) to bring the garlic flavor down a notch!. Like another pound of hamburger, or another can of tomatoes, more beans etc!.
Or you could use your remaining smaller batch and make some weiners or brauts, serve your chili over them as chili dogs!.
Or would your chili maybe work in a hotdish!? Cook some pasta, mix in some of your chili, and maybe a can tomato sauce, sprinkle with some shredded cheese, cover and bake for about 30 minutes at 350!. Serve with french bread!.
You could also mix a jar of cheese whiz into your chili, and use it as a warm chip dip!.
Don't throw it out! You will find some way to use it!
Good Luck!
PS garlic is very good for you! : >)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well, if you taste it and it tastes too strong for you (the flavour might lessen after simmering and melding with the other flavours in the pot) You could dilute it with more of the other ingredients!.!. Like, add a few cans more beans etc!.
You might end up with waay too much chili, but you can freeze it in plastic containers for a quick meal later!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

add one cup of flour!. flour is a flavor reducer!. then, to add some flavor and moisture back in, add beer!. this can be any kind of beer, really, but one that ive found works well is sam adams (try for a beer on the lighter side)!. it will give it a great flavor and mellow out the garlic!. also try to get some of the bulbs out!. but if you've minced them, you can try the beer and flour!.
good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Have you tasted the chili!?
If you stew it long enough the flavor of the garlic will be reduced WAY DOWN!.
If you used four or more pounds of meat, don't give up on it!. Just keep stewing it!. Add more tomatoes or more browned meat if it is too garlickly!.
