Question: Chocolate cake - with out using chocolate!?
Is it possible to make a really nice chocolate cake without chocolate!? I have coco powder but does that still make it taste really chocolaty!? also can you make choclate frosting with out chocolate is yes can i please have the recipes! thanks!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Quick easy and beautifully moist, this chocolate cake will delight you!


INGREDIENTS


1 cup self-raising flour
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
? cup milk
? teaspoon vanilla
2 tablespoons cocoa
3 tablespoons butter



METHOD


Preheat oven to 180°C!.

Sift all dry ingredients into a mixing bowl!. Add milk, eggs and vanilla!. Mix ingredients roughly!.

Melt butter and add to bowl!. Mix thoroughly, until all combined!.

Pour into 25cm round cake tin!. Cook for approximately 25 minutes!.


EASY CHOCOLATE ICING

1 c!. sugar
2 tbsp!. cocoa
1 stick butter
1/4 c!. milk

Sift sugar and cocoa!. Add butter!. Add milk!. Bring to rolling boil!. Boil only one minute!! Add 1 teaspoon vanilla!. Pour into small mixing bowl and beat until spreadable!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Carob Cake
This delicious cake is fudge-like without the chocolate!. Pair it with Vanilla Butter Cream Frosting!. Simply double the recipe to make a double layer cake or 9x13 pan!.

Serves 9
3/4 cup unrefined cane sugar
1/2 cup unbleached organic white flour
6 tablespoons whole wheat pastry or "white" wheat flour
3 tablespoons carob powder
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
pinch of sea salt
1 organic egg
1/2 cup organic milk
1/4 cup melted organic butter or expeller pressed canola oil
1 1/4 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 cup hot water
Preheat oven to 350°F!.

Spray a 9-inch square or round cake pan with olive or canola oil spray!. Set aside!. Combine the sugar, flours, carob, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a large bowl!. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, butter or oil, and vanilla!. Add to the dry ingredients, beating for 2 minutes!. Whisk in hot water!. Pour into prepared pan!. Bake the cake for 40 to 45 minutes or until done when tested with a toothpick!. Cool for 15 minutes in pan!. If desired, remove from pan and continue cooling on a wire rack!.

Frost this cake with Vanilla Butter Cream Frosting!.

This cake is so delicious, it does not need any embellishments!. However, if making a layer cake, you can fill with Cherry Filling!. The Carob Fudge Frosting really compliments this cake!.

For the best textured cake, have your ingredients at room temperature!. However, when in a pinch, I have prepared this cake with cold ingredients and it was still great!.

Ingredients

6 T safflower or canola oil
2 eggs
4 T light honey
1/2 c roasted carob powder
1/2 c hot water
1 c yogurt
1 1/2 t vanilla
2 c whole wheat pastry four
1 t baking soda
2 t baking powder

Steps

Preheat the oven to 350° F!. Oil either two 8" round cake pans or one 9" x 13" cake pan!.
Place eggs and oil and honey in a large mixing bowl and beat on high speed for 4 minutes!.
In another bowl, mix the carob and water until it is smooth!. Mix in yogurt add vanilla!. Beat this into the egg honey mixture at low speed!.
Mix together the flour, baking soda and baking powder!.
Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet until well combined!.
Spread evenly into cake pan/s!.
Bake for 20 minutes or until the cake is firm and springy!. Do not over bake!.

Cocoa powder will not work for chocolate cake!. You have to use chocolate, otherwise the cake isn't a chocolate cake!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes there are recipes on the net, just Google it!.
Cocoa powder needs a lot of sugar added to the mix!. It will be chocolate flavoured but not mudcake rich or anything!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
