What is the easiest way to make a cake into the shape of '16' ?!

Question: What is the easiest way to make a cake into the shape of '16' !?
I need to make a cake for a 16 year old in the shape of '16'!. I don't have those 'numerical baking pans' so was wondering if anyone had any ideas of the best way to go about doing it!.
Many thanks in advance!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Bake several shallow layers and use a paper template to cut and build the layers!. Overlapping is a good idea b/c it will make the cake stronger, so don't make all the cut in the same places!.
Good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hi

You have 2 options here!.
1!. Buy a slab cake from the local supermarket (Coles,/Woolies) or make your own if you have 2 large cake or lammington trays and cut out the numbers you need by using a paper template!.
or
2!. You can make the numeral 1 out by using 1 or 2 bar tins!.
(1 bar tin is good enough if not going to fancy or 2 bar tins if you want to make a special looking number 1, like the roman numeral)
The 6 can be made from a circle can tin with a hole already in it or you could cut the middle circle out by using a paper template again if using a full round cake tin!. The top part of the six can be made from another bar tin with the bottom part of it cut with a curve to match up against the circle!.
If you can get your hands on the Women's Weekly Children's Birthday Cake Book, that might help you with the instruction above!.

You will be icing or frosting the cake so just cook a rectangular cake large enough to cut off a rectangle for the 1 and have enough left over to cut into the shape of a 6!.

You can print out a 6 slightly larger than the size you need and cut down the cake until you can see an outline of the 6!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Make lots of seperate rectangular prism cakes and then join them together using the icing!. That way it's already sliced and people can just grab some when they want at the party I assume it's for!.
If you find it easier you can make a square cake, ice it, and cut out the shape of the 16!. Or you could just arrange cupcakes into a sixteen, one per guest!. Have fun!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hey, i just made one actually for my cousin!.!.!.

a loaf pan for the 1 (one)
2x round pans!. bake them all, then cut out the middle of one of the round cakes!. then with the other round one, cut through the center to make an ark as the top of the 6!.!.!. and stick it together with cream or icing!.!.!. once the cake is iced, no one will notice it's 2 pieces stuck together!.!.!. Mine worked well!!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

make a mould out of cardboard

the plasticy/shiny type cardboard that wouldnt make the cake tastel iek cardboard on the outside!?

i hope that helps!.
but im not so sure whether it works in the oven, maybe if you cover the cardboard with aluminium foil!? im not sure!.

if any other answerers think this is right, i'd like to know!. lol =]Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'd make a bar cake for the 1 and do 2 ring tin cakes, one fore the circle part of the 6 and 1/3 - 1/2 of the other for the curl of the 6!. I did it that way for a number 10 birthday and I've made a 9 prior to that (upside down 6, lol!) I love making birthday cakes!.!.!.have fun!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Use cup cakes! Then you can write notes on the cupcakes and put them into the shape of 16!. You could also make sheet cakes and cut them but it would take more work!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would just make two normal cakes, and then cut out the forms yourself, and then cover with icing!.

The leftovers would be all yours <3Www@FoodAQ@Com
